阳春布德泽，万物生光辉。时有落花至，远随流水香。虽然还有些许冬日的寒意，但草木夹杂着泥土的气息扑面而来，告诉我们：寒冬已过，春日来临。上海美达菲学校的新老学子们也齐聚校园，共同迎接新学期的到来，开启一段新的人生旅程。

Although we can still feel the cold of winter, the grass and flowers tell us that winter is over and spring has already come. Since last week, all the old and new students gather in this beautiful campus, welcoming the arrival of the new semester and preparing for a new life journey.

开学周的生活，相比寒假而言更加忙碌和紧张，却又充满秩序、井井有条。周一，迎着清晨的抹阳光，老师和同学们齐聚操场，参加了新学期次升旗仪式。

Compared to the winter break, the first week seemed to be busy, but at the same time, it was full of orderliness. On Monday, all the teachers and students gathered on the playground to attend the flag-raising ceremony for the first time in the new semester.

在学生代表的主持下，高二IB班的蒋乐同学以三好学生的身份进行了国旗下讲话。为了倡导同学们提高自我管理和约束能力，培养自主学习的技能，同时营造良好的校园风气，蒋乐同学用流利的英语，强调了学生行为规范的重要性，也以自身的行动为同学们做了良好的榜样。

Hosted by students representatives, G11 IB student Jiang Le gave a speech to teachers and students as a merit student around the topic "discipline code". In order to advocate students to improve self-management ability, cultivate their independent learning skills, and create a positive school atmosphere, she emphasized the importance of student code of conduct and used herself as a role model.

Dear teachers and peers, good morning. I would like to use this opportunity to thank the school for giving me the honor to speak as a merit student here. I would also like to thank Director Li, the Student Development Center for her care and help, as well as my teachers who taught and cultivated me. The topic of my speech today is the relationship between learning and discipline. As is known to all, learning is the most important task for students, and discipline is the necessary condition and effective method to ensure the orderly progress of learning and improve learning efficiency. A man without discipline is like a kite with a short string. He may indulge himself at that time and never fly high again. People who make a success must be those who strictly follow the discipline to restrain themselves. Students who do not abide by discipline cannot be regarded as excellent students. If the class discipline is chaotic, for example, students can talk freely during the lessons, can be late or absent at will, then the atmosphere of learning in that class will not be strong enough, this feeling will affect every student, and everyone will gradually lose the motivation to move forward in such an environment. Students will gradually extinguish the self-motivated. Therefore, students who do not obey disciplines will not only affect their learning progress but also destroy their class and the overall atmosphere of unity and progress in their school. This is what we cannot allow.

接着，王校长发表了开学典礼的致辞，对新老师和同学的加入表示了热烈的欢迎，也对12年级收到来自英、美、加等国66封录取及预录取的美达菲学子表示了祝贺。

Then, Principal Wang gave a speech at the flag-raising ceremony, expressing a warm welcome to the new teachers and students, and congratulated the 12th graders who received 66 offers and conditional offers from the UK, US, Canada, and other countries all around the world.

王校长从三个方面对美达菲学子们提出了几点希望：1. 加强体育运动;2. 积极参加课外活动;3. 放下手机，拿起课本。在这三方面，学校也提供了全方位的支持。这一学期，学校引进了一批优秀的青年才俊，增加了社团活动的多样性，课外活动的丰富性，更加完善了学生学习及日常行为规范的管理制度，同时也大力鼓励美达菲学子们积极参加各项学科竞赛。

Principal Wang also put forward several hopes to the MacDuffie students from three aspects: 1. Strengthen sports; 2. Actively participate in extracurricular activities; 3. Put down the mobile phone and pick up the textbook. In order to comprehensively provide support for students, this semester, the school has introduced a group of outstanding young talent teachers, increased the diversity of club activities, enriched extracurricular activities, and improved the management system of student learning and daily behavior. Simultaneously, Shanghai MacDuffie also strongly encourages students to actively participate in various discipline competitions.

为了鼓励同学们全方位的发展，营造良好的校园风气，学校对上学期各方面突出的同学进行了评优，分别评出了团体奖和个人奖，并为这些同学举行了颁奖典礼，希望他们能够再接再厉，也希望这些美达菲学子能为其他同学做出表率。

In order to encourage the students' all-round development and create a healthy and positive atmosphere, the school gave awards to groups and students with outstanding performance and held a ceremony for them, hoping that they can make persistent efforts and keep moving forward in the new semester, as well as be role models for other students.

新学期，大家齐聚美达菲。“怀中国心，做世界人”。美达菲全体师生也将在美达菲办学理念的引领下，在美达菲六大价值观：集体、正直、尊重、创造力、领导力和卓越的围绕下，相约春天，再次出发。

In the new semester, all the teachers and students gather at Shanghai MacDiffie. "With Chinese Heart, Be a World Citizen", we will follow this guideline and MacDuffie's six circle values: community, integrity, respect, creativity, leadership, and excellence, meeting in the spring and starting our new journey.
