Students choosing to pursue a 9-12 Professional Educator License in a major area of study gain rigorous preparation through content courses in the College of Arts and Sciences and rigorous preparation in pedagogical theory and practice through courses and field practicum experiences in the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior.

Degrees Available at SIUE

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science with a major in a College of Arts and Sciences discipline, with licensure through the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior

Professional Educator Licensure Grades 9-12 is available in the following major areas of study: Biology, Chemistry, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Political Science, and Theater and Dance

Professional Educator Licensure Grades K-12 is available in the following major areas of study: French, German and Spanish

Career Opportunities

Students pursuing most majors in the College of Arts and Sciences and Professional Educator Licensure through the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior are presented with two career pathways; that of their major area of study, and that of a career educator.
