Instructional Technology at SIUE

The Master of Science in Education (MSEd) with a major in instruction technology from SIUE's School of Education, Health and Human Behavior prepares students for a variety of instructional development and technology-related positions in education, business and industry. Courses are 100 percent online and will help you apply cutting-edge media and techniques within the field.

In the Digital Age, you can enhance your professional power by honing your skill in helping others learn, unlearn and re-learn. Instructional technology (IT) is an interdisciplinary field that can sharpen your abilities to critically analyze the performance problems of employees or students. Once analyzed, instructional technologists envision flexible solutions to those problems, design creative strategies for bringing their visions to life, produce a variety of multimedia innovations, and evaluate how well their own solutions, strategies and innovations added value to the organization for which they work.

Master of Science in Education (multiple areas of emphasis)

Distance Education

Distance Education focuses on the tools and techniques for designing, producing and facilitating online courses. This emphasis area will be useful to teachers, adult educators, college faculty members and corporate training personnel who are interested in the potential of online classrooms to expand learning opportunities for students and employees.

Educational Technologies

Educational Technologies enables teachers and other school personnel to plan, implement and evaluate technology-based instruction and learning activities in P-12 settings. This emphasis places a particular focus on the emerging technologies that can give classroom teachers a cutting-edge advantage in promoting learning.

Instructional Design and Performance Improvement

Instructional Design and Performance Improvement focuses on skills necessary for careers in corporations, institutions of higher education, health care organizations and non-profits. Students who graduate from this emphasis become corporate trainers, multimedia learning technologists, curriculum writers, instructional designers, performance improvement specialists and learning consultants.
