With the help of a dedicated placement team seek a placement with a criminology and criminal justice system related agency and boost your employability.Course detailsAt Level 3 (Year 0/Foundation Year) you’ll experience a supportive environment to assist in the transition to successful study in higher education. You will learn about academic writing, critical thinking skills and begin to develop your research skills, as well as develop your knowledge and understanding through an introduction to key aspects of criminology and criminal justice and other relevant areas of law and social science.At Level 4 (Year 1), you’ll lay the foundations for your studies, exploring various perspectives on criminology and forensic criminology as well as examining theories on the causes of crime and deviance. You’ll look at policy and practice to develop your knowledge and deepen your understanding of comparative responses to crime, gaining a grounding in criminal justice research.At Level 5 (Year 2), you will advance your knowledge on theories of crime and harm as well as forensic criminology. Sharpening your research and critical thinking skills, you'll also delve deeper into the practical and political issues surrounding crime and criminal justice. At Level 6 (Final Year), you’ll apply your knowledge of theory and method to crime and harm and specialise in areas such as systemic violence, green criminology, social control, illicit drug use, global (in)security, leisure and harm, and social change and justice. You'll put your knowledge into practice with a work-based learning module, as well as designing and implementing your own research project to investigate a criminological issue of your interest to produce your dissertation, with the support of our staff.The modules shown for this course or programme are those being studied by current students, or expected new modules. 为来自中国的学生设计 Students need good grades in Senior High School Graduation Examination and the Chinese University Entrance Examination (Gaokao) for admission to year 1. Students need to have completed the Graduation Certificate - Specialist / Sub-degree (Zuanke) level (also known as the Dazhuan) will be considered for final year (top-up) entry. We generally require an overall 70 per cent grade or above but this will vary depending on the institution.
