The University of La Verne’s History and Political Science Department fuses two essential parts of the human experience into one interdisciplinary education. Studying history shapes the past in preparation for the future, while understanding political movements prepares students with a foundation of contemporary affairs.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the History and Political Science Department will:

• develop critical thinking, writing, analytical and research skills;
• be prepared for graduate study, as well as for careers in the public and private sectors;
• develop a critical understanding of the historical and political context within which they can meaningfully understand their life experiences;
• become knowledgeable about the theory and application of their respective fields; and
• utilize a comparative international or cross-cultural perspective.

TOEFL - 80 iBT or higher; 550 pBT or higher; IELTS - 6.5 overall band score or higher, ELS - Satisfactory completion of ELS 112, Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) - Advanced score of 176 or higher, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) - Score of 53 or higher.
