专业概况

Designed for students who seek a well-rounded, substantive theatre education within the framework of a solid liberal arts education. The BTA is not a performance program; it is designed for students who want to pursue careers in areas such as production management, arts administration, dramaturgy, or teaching.

Curriculum

The Bachelor of Theatre Arts requires a minimum of 120 credits: coursework is 66% within SMTD and 33% within the liberal arts. BTA students take a core of theatre courses and also a significant number of elective courses from a broad range of theatre offerings such as Theatre Forum, Playwriting, Global Theatre and Ethnic Studies, History of Dress, History of Decor, Theatre and Incarceration and Performing Arts Administration. The BTA provides flexibility for students who are interested in developing a minor area of study. In consultation with your program advisor, students may customize the program to fit personal academic or career goals.

SMTD coursework to include:

Acting Design Directing Theatre History, Literature, Criticism Technical Theatre Stage Management Theatre History Practice as Research

Liberal arts coursework to include:

Freshman Writing , Shakespeare’s plays, Upper-level writing, screen arts & culture elective, and academic electives from across the U-M

为来自中国的学生设计 Other English Language Requirements: MELAB (plus speaking): 85 range with section scores 80+ and 3+ in speaking; TOEFL (PBT): 600 range with section scores 57+; ECPE: Certificate with all sections at least a C; CAE or CPE: 185 with no less than 180+ in all sections (CEFR C1);PTE Academic: 68 with all sections equally strong.
