Overview

Our Creative Writing MA degree is designed to equip you with a broad range of advanced creative writing skills and academic accreditation for your creative work.

Teaching is delivered by some of the most talented and original wordsmiths working today. Between them,they’ve published over 100 books, produced countless scripts for TV, radio and film, and won umpteen e team includes Bernardine Evaristo, who won the world’s most prestigious prize for the novel, the Booker Prize, in 2019, for her Sunday Times No. 1 bestselling novel, Girl, Woman, Other and renowned performance poet, writer and broadcaster Benjamin Zephaniah. As well as the stand-alone ‘general’ programme, we’ve added four new dynamic pathways to the course so you can choose your preferred specialism and focus your learning across key forms of contemporary creative writing.

Careers and your future

A creative writing degree from Brunel will prepare you for a professional creative writing career. Our graduates are working in journalism, publishing, advertising, television, radio and the internet.

Many have gone on to have their novels and poetry collections published including: Alarum (Wayne Holloway Smith); Sky Pirates (Liesel Shwartz) and Dream on Amber (Emma Shevah).

Our academics are well established in industry, have won many awards and honours and written for major national newspapers and magazines across the country. Their experience, contacts and knowledge of the literary industry can go a long way to putting you on the right track to success as a graduate.

为来自中国的学生设计 As a guideline and depending on the programme you apply for, we require the following grades from a recognised Chinese institution: A UK 2:1 (Second Class Upper) which is equivalent to a bachelor degree with a minimum score of 75% - 80%; A UK 2:2 (Second Class Lower) which is equivalent to a bachelor degree with a minimum score of 70% - 75%. Grades may vary depending upon the course chosen. In general, our courses ask for an English level of between IELTS 6.0 and 7.0 or equivalent. Some courses will have higher requirements (and will require you to also reach minimum sub-scores).
