专业概况

在这里学什么? The programme is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in the diverse industries of animal behaviour and animal welfare. The programme makes full use of state of the art purpose built animal facilities that have animal welfare and species specific behavioural needs embedded into their design. This enables students to develop the required practical and theoretical skills required for a successful future career.The programme is aimed at students who have an active interest in the welfare of animals in captive situations and who wish to develop these interests into a professional career. Individuals who have an interest in the study of animal behaviour in a range of settings as well as human psychology are encouraged to apply.The programme will be of interest to students who enjoy the biological sciences and have an interest in pursuing a career in the animal management industry. There is a broad diversity in the career opportunities available that relate to animal behaviour and welfare and these can often involve roles that offer both practical and theoretical elements. The varied styles of teaching delivery within the programme are therefore ideal for creating graduates that can make the most of these career opportunities.The programme will be of great interest to those who wish to develop their knowledge of animal behaviour both in wild and captive settings and how this information can be used to develop systems of management that promote the highest welfare standards. All of the programme content is based upon current animal behaviour science research which is in turn critically reviewed by the students to help develop crucial reflective thinking skills.Degree StructureThe programme consists of core and elective courses over the three years of study. In the first year all 8 courses are core, being 15 credits each. In the second year there are seven core units and one elective. Again all courses in the second year are 15 credits.
