You study genetics, molecular and cellular biology, human physiology and disease, metabolism, immunology, haematology and blood transfusion, and pathogens. You can also choose modules in areas such as the biology of ageing, neuroscience, virology and cancer biology. In your final year, you complete your own research project.You spend a year working in the NHS, government labs or the pharmaceutical industry. Many placements pay a salary and you’ll gain relevant experience which will benefit you in your final-year studies and when applying for jobs after graduation.
