专业概况

在这里学什么？ This BSc (Hons) degree will appeal to those who wish to combine their passion for sport and exercise with an interest for health-related study. There are a number of option modules on this programme in the second and third year to help develop a range of laboratory, clinical and applied skills that give you an outstanding platform for a career in sport, exercise, or the health professions. The degree is multi-disciplinary, drawing on psychology, anatomy and physiology, nutrition and practical applied skills in exercise testing and prescription. You also have the opportunity to promote your own sport or health event, and confront the issues involved in dealing with the general public. There is also an option to complete an extended placement module to accumulate work experience – an important consideration when applying for jobs or post-graduate study. In your final year, you conduct your own research project, choosing from specialist options that may include: exercise rehabilitation, evaluation of physical activity / exercise interventions or contemporary issues in nutrition science. You also benefit from being instructed by staff members who are both excellent teachers and leading researchers. The School provides an enthusiastic and supportive environment for motivated and ambitious students. Our facilities to support teaching and research are located in the Chipperfield Building on the Canterbury campus, which is located close to the University’s sports centre. In addition to our exercise science laboratories, with specialist facilities for a host of exercise testing, we have a biomechanical laboratory with 3D video imaging and analysis, and a specialist respiratory clinic. There is also a sports therapy clinic with equipment to facilitate injury rehabilitation, such as the Alter-G treadmill, which reduces impact when exercising, and ultrasound imaging scanner. The School is also involved in a number of community sport and exercise initiatives for clinical and other population groups, which students are encouraged to attend. Your year in industry takes place between your second and final year of your degree programme, giving you extended and invaluable work experience. This greatly enhances your CV and employability while giving you the opportunity to apply your academic skills in a practical context. It also gives you an idea of your career options after graduation. Most placements are paid opportunities, and there may be the possibility of a job with the same company after you graduate.
