专业概况
在这里学什么? Can the interests of employees and of organisations co-exist? What is the impact of the gig economy on employee relations? What are the drivers behind communication, change and motivation? So much can be uncovered by delving into peoples behaviours and interactions with organisations and society. This degree includes a year in the workplace and focuses on understanding humans the way they work and how their behaviour can be influenced through people management practices. We wont teach you how to become a manager. Instead, we will explore the perspectives of both employers and employees. Join us in challenging the assumptions behind human resources and how people are managed. You will study management theory alongside psychology, sociology and history. Our teaching approach blends academic material with practical insights and exercises. You will be taught by academics who are tackling the big questions of the day such as Artificial Intelligence, ethnic and cultural diversity and technology. In your first year you study Management and Organisational Behaviour, selecting two more subjects. The most useful options are from Social Sciences or the Management School, but the choice is yours. In your second year you will study Human Resources Management and deepen your understanding by choosing from topics such as Managing People or Business Ethics. You will gain valuable life and work experience on your third-year industry placement. This is a priceless (and paid) opportunity to gain a practical perspective of work, people and organisations in the real world. The final year sees you selecting from options such as International Human Resource Management, Ethics and Sustainability, and Organisational Change. This degree will give you a critical understanding of the complex world of work and organisations. If you are interested in how to create a happy, efficient workforce, this degree can put you on the path to a career in people management. The University will use all reasonable effort to support you to find a suitable placement for your studies. While a placement role may not be available in a field or organisation that is directly related to your academic studies or career aspirations, all placement roles offer valuable experience of working at a graduate level and gaining a range of professional skills. If you are unsuccessful in securing a suitable placement for your third year, you will be able to transfer to the equivalent non-placement degree scheme and would continue with your studies at Lancaster, finishing your degree after your third year. The University offers a range of shorter placement and internship opportunities for which you would be welcome to apply.所属院系
