The MSc Economics and Management programme is a specialist multidisciplinary degree delivered jointly by the Department of Management and the Department of Economics - one of the largest and most esteemed Economics departments in the world, renowned for its research and contributions to the development of the subject area.

The programme is aimed at students with a strong analytical and quantitative background, and offers an unparalleled experience to challenge your perspectives on the way firms and markets operate, and to develop lifelong skills as a talented and innovative manager and economist. Combining an exceptional level of analytical training in economics with the more applied scope of a management degree, this is a unique programme.

The curriculum aims to develop your intellectual understanding of business strategy management, econometrics, and markets in the global contexts in which they operate. This well-balanced training as a manager and economist will enable you to graduate with the ability to tackle complex decisions, deal with unknown changes in today’s rapidly changing world, and champion new ideas to drive innovation in firms and markets.

The LSE learning experience

The curriculum is designed to challenge your view of the world, and of management and economics as interconnected disciplines. You will be asked to read the latest research to understand the underlying reasons why today’s business world exists as it does, and the practical implications for managers and economists in practice.

Teaching and assessment

Courses are taught in lecture and class or seminar format. Lectures introduce the core theoretical and technical concepts whilst their associated classes allow students to discuss and apply these concepts through exercises and in-depth study. Seminars allow for the focused study of key concepts in a more informal style and often involve presentations by students on selected course materials. Many teachers adopt a variety of teaching methods to deliver their courses such as class exercises, team presentations, individual or group work, or case study discussions.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students need a bachelor's degree with an overall mark of 85 per cent from a highly regarded institution in China; with all other students we would normally require a mark of at least 90 per cent. Each application is considered on an individual basis and entry requirements vary by programme.
