A tactile, sensory and aesthetic medium tied to global locations, natural resources, human and cultural relationships and technological developments, expressed through a tapestry of texture, form, colour, pattern and meaning.The BA (Hons) Textiles degree course at Cardiff Met explores the diversity of textile design and/or textile art with sustainable practices, blending traditional processes and digital technologies. Discover and explore new skills in print, stitch, dye, material manipulation, knit, and elementary weaving with digital technologies. Apply your learning to surface pattern design and 2D and 3D construction for the interiors, stationery, fashion markets, and/or for textile art for the public arena. You will develop your professional skills through working with cutting edge studio practices, preparations for professional portfolio and CV writing for future employment, collaborating on live briefs with industry/museum consultants and undertaking self-directed projects.As textile designers or textile artists you will be supported in developing your own style and personal language, giving you the confidence, vision, and professional awareness to take the next steps into your future, carving your unique position in the world-wide creative community of textiles.
