This two-year foundation degree gives you the right mix of academic theory and workplace experience to get ahead in your career.Coaches are the backbone to every successful player and athlete in any sport. They improve technique, guide through psychological barriers, rehabilitate after injury and provide moral support. Study the science behind what makes a successful coach and you’ll learn lifelong skills to help you get the best from people.Get a qualification to demonstrate your skills and really understand the theory behind the physiology, psychology and biomechanics of coaching. It’s not just academic, you will also get experience throughout the course either with your current role, performance pathway or with organisations such as Sport for Kids.We have great links with sports organisations like Swim England National Performance Centre. You will also be able to take advantage of our extensive sports facilities and activities, from martial arts to table tennis.Throughout the course, you’ll learn the theory behind key aspects of sport coaching. We’ve developed a range of modules to cover topics like energy and nutrition, biomechanics, even psychology.We’ve kept the course varied, with a mixture of practical and academic work. Some classes might require you to build up a portfolio, while others will involve essays or group presentations. You can submit work online, so the course is ideal if you want to work or focus on your performance while finishing off your studies.
