在这里学什么?The dual-degree program in business and law enables the student to complete both degrees with six fewer courses than would be required if the degrees were pursued separately. Students completing the dual degree will earn an MBA with a specialization in business law as well as the JD degree.
In a growing global economy, the career paths of business and law professionals have become increasingly convergent. The role of an attorney in the day-to-day management of businesses has become vital, as the modern business professional needs immediate access to sound legal advice.
To succeed in the cross-section of these dynamic markets, a multi-faceted education is critical. A dual-degree program provides training that gives students the knowledge, skills and background they need to function in both law and business sectors.
Graduates from Loyola University Chicago's JD/MBA program can pursue careers in the legal and business professions, especially where those areas overlap. A dual degree is appropriate for students pursuing a career in banking, management, government regulations, consulting or corporate positions in legal, tax or accounting departments. There are endless opportunities for an individual with a dual degree in today's market.
Aspects & benefits of the JD/MBA program
During the completion of the JD/MBA program, the equivalent of nine credit hours from each degree program is counted toward the other degree program. This feature enables the student to complete both degrees with fewer courses than would be required if the degrees were pursued separately. Students completing the dual degree will earn an MBA with a specialization in business law, as well as earning the JD degree. Students work with an advisor in each school to plan their respective programs of study.
Generally, a total of 11 to 16 MBA courses are required for the completion of the MBA, plus the nine credit hours transferred from the School of Law.
Students who will complete their law degree first must complete at least 15 quarter hours (generally five courses) in the Quinlan School of Business before completing their law coursework in order to earn the "course sharing" benefits of the MBA/JD program.
Students who will complete their MBA degree first must complete at least nine semester hours in the School of Law (the number of actual law courses may vary, as, unlike the Quinlan School of Business, law classes typically vary in the number of semester hours that a particular class is worth) before completing their MBA coursework in order to reach the "course sharing" benefits of the JD/MBA program.
Students who begin the program in the Quinlan School of Business first must have at least 15 MBA quarter hours remaining in their MBA coursework before they matriculate in the School of Law in order to earn the "course sharing" benefits of the MBA/JD program.
