专业概况
在这里学什么？The major in Agricultural Science prepares people for careers in agriculture including in agribusinesses, research and development organisations, environmental and business consulting firms, and government and policy agencies. Agricultural Science is the study of the science and management required for sustainable production of food and fibre. Basic sciences underpin this major, and are integrated to address complex problems through a systems analysis approach. The major includes crop and livestock systems, and students should also develop knowledge of economics, business, social sciences and natural resources within their breadth studies. The major is a direct pathway into the Master of Agricultural Science.
The agricultural industry today is all about science: logistics, engineering, robotics and genetics. Modern farming is a cutting-edge, high-tech industry, geared towards creating a sustainable future. At the University of Melbourne, our agricultural scientists work in labs, on-farm, and with drones and new technology. We even have our own robotic dairy.
You could use your biology and chemistry knowledge to develop food and fibre products that will be sustainable in our changing environment, or put your mathematics and statistics skills to use in managing livestock and grazing patterns that mitigate the effects of climate change.
Within the major, you can choose to focus on animal production, agricultural science or crop science.
Career outcomes
Place yourself at the forefront of farming, with a rewarding career in agribusiness or agricultural consulting. You might find yourself with a job title such as agronomist, agricultural consultant, research officer, soil scientist, animal husbandry manager, or farming systems analyst. Or, if you also have interests in economics and business, you could consider a role in government as a policy analyst or in banking as a finance officer.

为来自中国的学生设计 To be eligible for entry to an undergraduate degree you must fulfill all of the following requirements: Complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an overseas qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12. English language requirements: TOEFL - Paper based test - a score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English. Internet based test - a score of 79 and scores of: Writing: 21, Speaking: 18, Reading: 13, Listening 13. IELTS (Academic) - an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0. Pearson Test of English (Academic) - an overall score of between 58-64 inclusive and achieve no PTE communicative skills score below 50. Cambridge English: Advanced/Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - A Cambridge English Score of 176 with no skill below 169.课程信息
