With the rising incidence of cancer across the globe, there is a projected shortage of skilled practitioners in the oncology workforce. The Master of Cancer Sciences, Australia’s first cancer-specific, multidisciplinary, and wholly online program, and one of only two such online programs available in the world, has been designed to meet this growing need.

Developed in collaboration with experts from the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) and the University of Melbourne, you will gain an unprecedented breadth of integrated, cutting-edge, specialist cancer knowledge. This program will equip you with skills to produce high-quality research and deliver best practice cancer care to your patients in this rapidly-evolving field.

Who is this course for?

Promoting a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, this program is open to scientists and clinicians from a variety of backgrounds:

• Medical practitioners such as general practitioners, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and haematologists
• Nurses
• Allied health professionals such as occupational therapists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists
• Pharmacists
• Research scientists and Clinical trials professionals
• Industry and pharmaceutical professionals.

Course aims

This course is designed to produce leaders in the fields of cancer care, research, prevention and education. Through this innovative program, you will learn to connect the latest evidence-based theory to practical skills that improve the clinical care of patients with cancer. Students have the unique opportunity to learn from world-leading experts, be at the forefront of cancer research and clinical care and connect with global health professional communities in the field.

English language requirements for Coursework degree: IELTS (academic English Only) - 6.5 overall, with written 6.5 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 577 + TWE 4.5; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 79 + (Writing 21; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 58 + no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 176 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill. English language requirements for Master of Philosophy: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.
