Industrial-Organizational Psychology at SIUE

Persons satisfying the requirements for admission to the Graduate School may apply for admission to psychology graduate programs. A separate application form is required and can be obtained from the Department of Psychology. Admission depends on approval by both the Graduate School and Psychology Department. In addition to other requirements, applicants must submit to the psychology department scores from the verbal, quantitative and writing areas on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

SIUE’s industrial-organizational psychology master's program within the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior follows the scientist-practitioner model, requiring students to complete both a research-based thesis and several required field hours of practicum. All required classes incorporate a mix of research and application. SIUE's location, just 23 miles from downtown St. Louis, Mo., offers the opportunity for professional endeavors and networking, balanced by a quiet, semi-rural environment conducive to study.

Career Opportunities

Most graduates from the program leave with their master’s degree and go to work immediately in a corporate setting, either in a company human resource/personnel department, organizational development/training department or as an organizational/management consultant. Some students seek and are successfully admitted to doctoral programs to further their study.
