专业概况

The department offers comprehensive professional training taught by a faculty comprising distinguished musicians and devoted teachers who expertly guide and encourage students to achieve their greatest potential. Performances and interdisciplinary collaborative opportunities abound, Fellow students are smart, focused, and supportive, creating a rich environment for artistic growth and creative thought.

Designed for students who want the flexibility to pursue more coursework within the liberal arts in addition to an education in music. This is an interdisciplinary degree with a larger commitment to liberal arts.

Curriculum

The Bachelor of Musical Arts in Performance: Piano requires a minimum of 120 credits: coursework is approximately 50% within SMTD and 50% within the liberal arts. The liberal arts coursework can be tailored to a student’s specific interests.

Students will elect either a performance or multidisciplinary track. SMTD coursework to include:

PERFORMANCE TRACK

Private lessons Music Theory Musicology Ensemble participation: at least two terms of band, orchestra, or choir; two additional terms of any ensemble

MULTIDISCIPLINARY TRACK

Private lessons Music Theory Musicology Ensemble participation: four terms of at least two different ensembles Performing Arts Technology

为来自中国的学生设计 Other English Language Requirements: MELAB (plus speaking): 85 range with section scores 80+ and 3+ in speaking; TOEFL (PBT): 600 range with section scores 57+; ECPE: Certificate with all sections at least a C; CAE or CPE: 185 with no less than 180+ in all sections (CEFR C1);PTE Academic: 68 with all sections equally strong.
