The department offers comprehensive professional training taught by a faculty comprising distinguished musicians and devoted teachers who expertly guide and encourage students to achieve their greatest potential. Performances and interdisciplinary collaborative opportunities abound, Fellow students are smart, focused, and supportive, creating a rich environment for artistic growth and creative thought.

Designed for students who wish to work in performance and/or teaching. Those who wish to teach in elementary or secondary schools should pursue a curriculum within the Department of Music Education. Applicants should have eight to twelve years of piano study.

Curriculum

The Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance requires a minimum of 125 credits: coursework is 75% within SMTD and 25% within the liberal arts. SMTD coursework to include:

为来自中国的学生设计 Other English Language Requirements: MELAB (plus speaking): 85 range with section scores 80+ and 3+ in speaking; TOEFL (PBT): 600 range with section scores 57+; ECPE: Certificate with all sections at least a C; CAE or CPE: 185 with no less than 180+ in all sections (CEFR C1);PTE Academic: 68 with all sections equally strong.
