Become a problem solver and explore the social and psychological factors behind why people commit crime. You’ll learn about society’s responses to crime and many of the factors that challenge whether these responses are effective. Delve into forensic and criminal psychology and gain knowledge about the complexities of victimisation. Develop a competitive edge for the employment market. Make the most of the flexibility of a USQ’s Arts degree and combine your criminology and criminal justice studies with courses in psychology, legal studies, Indigenous studies, social justice, and many more (similar to a Bachelor of Criminology). Discover the intricacies of the relationship between crime, justice and the media or young people and the juvenile justice system. Become the subject matter expert with the option of studying the Criminology and Criminal Justice Extended major.

Further study

You can progress your study to further specialise with the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) or the Master of Professional Studies (Research).

Career outcomes

Apply your knowledge to the criminal justice system, child protection, crime research, strategic planning and development, security, or the police force. You could also work in community corrections, border security, policy development, juvenile justice or research. Your strong understanding of criminology and criminal justice alongside a second major strengthens your employability, and, depending on the major, opens up many career opportunities.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed Senior High School Certificate with 70% or equivalent. Applications are based on comparisons with Australian Year 12 level examinations. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English: First (FCE)/ B2 First with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
