专业概况

在这里学什么？

If you want to become a Professional Engineer, and have a 3 year engineering degree but no work experience, the Master of Engineering Science (Civil Engineering) will get you there.

Throughout the degree there is an emphasis on practical experience and preparing you thoroughly for the engineering profession. In addition to the hands-on laboratory sessions and 60 days industry experience, you will complete a research project and dissertation applying all your formal knowledge to a real world problem. Whether this is the risks posed by natural disasters to structures or testing new construction materials, your project will provide insight to the profession of a Civil Engineer.

The research project and dissertation can also be a stepping stone to further research degrees, such as PhD.

Career outcomes

As a civil engineering graduate your career pathway could be as a construction engineer, structural engineer, transport engineer or water supply distribution engineer in either the public or private sector. There are great opportunities for travel with consulting and contracting engineers often moving from one major engineering site to another. Your expertise could land you a job in some of the largest construction projects in the engineering world.

Professional accreditation

The Master of Engineering Science (Civil Engineering) has been accorded full accreditation at the level of Professional Engineer by Engineers Australia and graduates are eligible for Graduate membership at the Professional Level.

English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) score of 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/ C1 Advanced or Proficiency (CPE)/C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
