Control cyber security risks

Risk management is at the core of protecting an organisation against cyber threats, while enabling operational and innovative business activity. By studying USQ’s Master of Cyber Security (Governance Risk and Compliance), you will build practical governance knowledge and executive communication and communication skills to be able to implement effective cyber security protection strategies.

This specialisation introduces processes for planning, responding, recovering and reporting on security breach incidents, provided through different perspectives such as technical, business and media impact. Develop your management and leadership skills of cyber security teams, and gain and understanding of privacy and protection laws and digital forensic investigations.

The hands-on capstone research project will enable you to work with industry and apply theory to practice in a collaborative, laboratory environment at USQ or in your own workplace.

Professional accreditation

USQ is seeking accreditation for this degree with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

Career outcomes

Graduates will gain a well-rounded skillset that is globally transferrable with skills ranging from risk and compliance within cyber-governance, IoT, data mining, digital forensics, and cloud security. You can apply your knowledge to a range of contexts and scenarios in government, law enforcement and industry.

English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) score of 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/ C1 Advanced or Proficiency (CPE)/C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
