Grow your career in agriculture

Do you have a desire to improve modern practices in agriculture? Learning in our Master of Science (Agricultural Science) degree, you will develop an understanding of both national and global challenges associated with agricultural production. With Australia’s current decline in water ability and quality, there is a strong demand for educated professionals with knowledge of contemporary agricultural approaches.

Expand your knowledge in climate risk analysis, food security in the 21st century, soil mechanics and emerging technologies in agriculture, which will put you at the forefront of establishing sustainable agroecosystems.

You will have the opportunity to decide between two different pathways of study in your masters degree:

Research Project track — the Research Project track equips you with research skills and allows you to develop a research thesis through a project in your chosen disciplinary application area.

Research Training track — the Research Training track allows you to develop your research capability and gain specialised cognitive and technical skills to prepare for a professional career in science.

Further study

You can progress to study the Master of Science (Research) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) after successfully completing the Master of Science (Agricultural Science).

Career outcomes

Graduates from the Master of Science (Agriculture Science) can expect career opportunities in agricultural consulting, agricultural science laboratories, climate risk analysis, crop production, farm technologies and precision agriculture, soils management and viticulture.

English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) score of 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/ C1 Advanced or Proficiency (CPE)/C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
