Become a health and fitness expert

USQ’s Master of Science (Sport and Exercise) is designed for graduate students with an interest in the sport, health and fitness industry who wish to gain a comprehensive understanding of the sociocultural, scientific and applied aspects of physical health. Available to study both on-campus and online, this degree will help you develop in-depth knowledge and practical skills required to promote physical wellness across the lifespan. You will have the opportunity to decide between two different pathways of study in your masters degree:

Research Project track — the Research Project track equips you with research skills and allows you to develop a research thesis through a project in your chosen disciplinary application area.

Research Training track — the Research Training track allows you to develop your research capability and gain specialised cognitive and technical skills to prepare for a professional career in science.

Professional links in the sports industry

Take advantage of USQ’s professional links with both local and national organisations such as Western Pride Football Club, Brisbane Roar and Cricket Australia. You will also have the opportunity to undertake professional placement with various other organisations.

Notes:

The Sport and Exercise specialisation is not available to international overseas students.

Courses with a mandatory residential school will be held at USQ Ipswich.

Career outcomes

As a graduate of the Master of Science (Sport and Exercise) you can expect to find work in areas such as health and physical activity promotion, as a sports coach, gym manager, recreation officer, personal trainer, sports development officer, or work within sports tourism, community sport and recreation.

The Master of Science (Sport and Exercise) may also provide a pathway for you to gain entry into further research degrees such as a doctorate.

Other majors

Other specialisations in the Master of Science include: Agricultural Science, Applied Climate Science, Applied Data Science, Astrophysics, Environment and Sustainability, and Mathematics and Statistics.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have Australian university three or four-year Bachelor degree in an approved discipline, or equivalent. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) score of 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/ C1 Advanced or Proficiency (CPE)/C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
