2016年9月1日上海枫叶国际学校举行了2016-2017开学典礼，在典礼上中加方校长做了题为“理想在前，努力无限”的演讲，下面我们就一起去听听校长周家祥、加方校长Mark Wuerch在2016-2017学年开学典礼上的致辞：

老师们、同学们：

Dear Teachers and Students,

大家上午好!

Good Morning!

首先，我代表学校，欢迎同学们返校，欢迎新老师加盟枫叶!

For many people, January 1st is the start of the New Year and for them it is when they make new resolutions about what they want to change in their lives, whether it is to lose weight or to stop smoking or to exercise more. For them, making a new year’s resolution represents a chance for a fresh start, or new beginning.

For students, the first Monday in September is like a new year. For many it is more important than the one on January first because there are so many practical ways a student can change their lives. I really love what this day represents for many students. The beginning of a new school year is all about new beginnings and second chances. For many of you today is a new beginning.

今年，是上海枫叶办学第三年，我们的首届高三、初三毕业生，均取得了令人瞩目的成绩;76名高三毕业生，共获得330张录取通知书，其中54.7%的同学被枫叶百强大学录取，被世界名校多伦多大学录取15人;何健蓉同学同时被八所大学录取，其中5所为百强大学，最终选择就读墨尔本大学，被评为枫叶集团2016届14名“优秀毕业生”之一。

首届仅是开始，在场的同学们，将是第二至第N届，但我想，你们将注定是站在首届基础上走得更高的人。今年4月19日，英国牛津大学、诺丁汉大学的招生官来校宣传时，我们原高二现高三的50名同学，曾朗声回答“十个牛人”的问题;我想再问问，你们还记得吗?这个承诺还算不算?记得当时，我还提出过“十位剑客”的提法，不知道现在的高二同学，你们能不能承担起“十位剑客”的责任?!

昨天，我们5天军训顺利结营，获得优秀队列奖的是九排和五排，尤其五排，就是我们现在初中九年级同学，五步拳虎虎生风，有板有眼，像刚才的十位同学一样，获得了现场雷鸣般的掌声，让我们看到发展的后劲、未来的希望;也许，当你们站到第五届海枫高三毕业平台时，哈佛、耶鲁等美国名校恐早已不在话下了!

For Grade 10 students, welcome to Maple Leaf Shanghai. It is most very much a new beginning for all of you. Today is for each one of you a new beginning. Maybe for some it is also a second chance.

To the returning grade 11s and 12s, Welcome back. Many of you are coming here to build upon the successes you had from last year. For the grade 12s - our first graduating class at ML Shanghai - you have a great opportunity and obligation to help create and grow a culture that not only achieves well academically, but also is one that is inclusive of others, helpful to your classmates, and positive role models to the younger students. You can set a high standard for all those that follow. I would like to see you grade 12s take this once in a lifetime opportunity to set the example for the grade 10s and 11s. As students here you in grade 11 and 12 have helped to create a culture that is very caring and academically high achieving. Let’s build upon that which you’ve already started these last two years.

For all of you, throughout this year, I want you from time to time, ponder what efforts it took by many people to provide you with this opportunity to better yourselves. Think of those that envisioned and built this school, the staff that came here - from near and far - to run the programs, to the people that clean the hallways, to your parents – many of whom sacrificed much to have you here. All of these efforts and sacrifices are here for you.

光说不练，不是好汉。希望全体同学时刻铭记，来枫叶把握三件事：搞好学习、管好自己、抓好拓展，规划每一天、落实每一课、完善每一个细节。

预祝老师们在新学年**顺心，在各自岗位上，做出比较好的自己!预祝同学们新学年学有所成，在理想迈进的征程中，不断缔造属于你自己的辉煌!

The question is: What will you now do to make the most of this amazing opportunity placed in front of you?

For years as a teacher I had only two rules in my classroom:

First: Make the most of your learning opportunities.

Second: Allow those around you to make the most of their learning opportunities.

I know I can speak for all the staff here when I say we want you all to take this opportunity – this new beginning – this second chance - to make the most out of this school year.

Immerse yourself in your studies!

Get involved in your school!

Be helpful and kind to those around you!

Be positive role models!

And most of all, have fun doing it all!

Have a wonderful school year.
