Speech at the second annual English Art Festival of Maple Leaf

Distinguished Canadian consul, dear leaders, teachers and students:

Good evening!

On behalf of the Education Bureau of Jinshan District, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the 20th anniversary ceremony of Maple leaf. I wish a great success to this English Art Festival.

While other schools are preparing hard for the entrance examinations for middle school and high school, Maple leaf is holding the unique art festival and related activities. What’s more, some other campuses which have year 12 graduation classes will hold grand graduation ceremony. However, this is the very charm of maple leaf. This is how maple leaf is different from other schools.

Shanghai Maple Leaf International School has experienced promising development since it was established in September, 2013. From the energy and passion showed by the present students, we can get that why so many excellent students from the shanghai city proper, and from other provinces and even the overseas students from 7 countries came to study in the school.

With the unique feature and edges, Maple Leaf model has become the forerunner to add the international fashion to Jinshan district.

Since its opening, Maple Leaf has held a series of special activities, such as the Chinese Drama Festival, the Christmas celebration, DI association and the English Art Festival. In particular, the “course selection system” and the division of administration class and teaching class which have been running since the start are really eye-opening.

At present, our district is steadily promoting “the education reform under the context of reform about the entrance examination for university”. This year, we set up English feature classes in Jinshan Middle School, the third Affiliated School of the Normal University, trying to develop the English feature by recruiting foreign teachers.

During this round of education reform, we have the reason to believe that Shanghai Maple Leaf International School will become a leading example.

Tonight, we gathered here to appreciate the English art festival with the theme of “Fun with English”. I believe, this is the best interpretation of Maple Leaf education feature.
