专业概况

The Engineering Education Research (EER) Program at the University of Michigan follows a unique model. EER faculty are embedded within the traditional engineering departments, while EER graduate students are admitted to a college-wide program and are not affiliated with a specific department. This allows the EER faculty and their research to be well-integrated with the traditional engineering disciplines, provides students a better opportunity for research, and helps raise the profile of EER by diffusing the fruits of the scholarly work through the College of Engineering.

Vision and Mission:

The vision of the EER Program is to be internationally known and respected for innovative research and expertise that impacts scholarship, practice, and policy. The mission of the program is to improve engineering education at all levels by conducting rigorous and innovative engineering education research, preparing graduate students for successful, cutting edge research careers, and disseminating knowledge and expertise. Recognizing the interdisciplinary nature of education research, the program leverages the resources of the University of Michigan’s nineteen nationally-recognized schools and colleges, as well as scholars nationally and internationally, to support the growth and development of engineering education research.

Students may apply for and be admitted to a stand-alone master’s program in EER that is intended to serve as either a terminal degree or a complementary degree for a student completing a Ph.D. in another engineering degree. The M.S. degree requires 30 credits of coursework, (10 courses) as shown in the table below.
