专业概况

This program is designed for LSA students who are earning a PhD in a science (Astronomy, Biophysics, Chemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Geological Sciences, Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, Physics, and The School for Environment and Sustainability), or mathematics and are also interested in science and/or mathematics education.

If you are a doctoral student in the natural sciences or mathematics, and you are interested in expanding your knowledge about science and mathematics teaching, learning, and research, then consider this Master of Science degree in Post-Secondary Science Education. This program is open only to current doctoral students in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) in the following departments and schools: Astronomy, Biophysics, Chemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Geological Sciences, Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, Physics, and The School for Environment and Sustainability. This degree is not a stand-alone master's degree, and to reiterate, it is intended only for students who are enrolled in a Ph.D. program in LSA, and will be conferred only when the student receives the Ph.D.

Curriculum and Plan of Study

This Master's degree is a minimum of 24 hours. You will take courses in learning theory, teaching and learning (including assessment), and post-secondary education. In addition, you will complete at least six hours of directed research related to post-secondary science education and a minimum of four hours of cognates in a basic science field.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must complete a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association; or Complete an international degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a college or university recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or Commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned. Other English Language Requirements: Paper/Pencil TOEFL & TWE score of 560; MELAB score of 80.
