专业概况

The BS degree program in computer science provides a balance between theoretical foundations and applied computer science with the ultimate goal of presenting knowledge likely to be of ongoing value throughout one's career. The preparation of the BS is aimed at students who want pursue a career as an industry practitioners and/or as an academic.

Curriculum

Major Requirements (51 Credit Hours)

Both of the following must be taken:

• MATH 161: Calculus I
• MATH 162: Calculus II

One of the following must be taken:

• COMP 170: Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming
• COMP 215: Object-Oriented Programming with Mathematics

One of the following must be taken:

• COMP 371 (formerly 372): Programming Languages
• COMP 310 (formerly 374): Introduction to Operating Systems

All of the following must be taken:

• COMP 163: Discrete Structures or MATH 201: Elementary Number Theory
• COMP 264: Introduction to Computer Systems
• COMP 271: Data Structures
• COMP 313: Intermediate Object-Oriented Development
• COMP 317: Social, Legal, and Ethical Issues in Computing
• COMP 363: Design and Analysis of Computer Algorithms

Electives

• 13 Credits taken from:
• 3 credits of ENGL 210: Business Writing
• Any COMP 300 level electives except COMP 391: Internship in Computer Science and COMP 398: Independent Study
• Advanced/Interdisciplinary studies: 7 credits of any COMP 3xx, ISSCM 349:Project Management, MATH 3xx,PHYS 3xx, or STAT 3xx.
