专业概况
在这里学什么?The MEd degree in School and Community Counseling prepares professionals who are knowledgeable about cultural influences on human development and who can meet client concerns from diverse cultural perspectives. A central goal of the program is to prepare culturally sensitive practitioners who, regardless of the setting, base their practices on scholarly inquiry. Graduates of the school and community counseling program are prepared to serve in a wide variety of professional roles, including counseling and consultation on personal and educational issues and career development and adjustment.
Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for licensing as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois upon graduation. The program is also approved to lead to the School Counseling Endorsement under the Professional Educator License (PEL) by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Graduates are then subsequently eligible to apply for licensing as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois after receiving two years of post-degree supervised experience. This is the program to which persons should apply who are interested in becoming licensed for master's-level practice, regardless of whether or not they are considering doctoral education in the future.
