Explore medical research

Discover the wonder of the human body and unlock countless career paths with USQ’s Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences, one of only a few degrees in Australia that can predominantly be completed online. You also have to option to experience on-campus study or a combination of both delivery modes to suit your lifestyle and career goals.

Study human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, immunology, pharmacology, genetics, cell and molecular biology, nutrition and biochemistry through engaging courses with practical applications using both workplace and laboratory research opportunities.

You will become proficient in biomedical science laboratory techniques and find solutions to authentic medical problems.

Pathway to study medicine

If you aspire to study medicine our Bachelor of Biomedical Science will give you broad knowledge to assist should you wish to undertake the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT), into medicine.

Professional accreditation

You will be eligible to apply for membership to professional organisations including the Australian Society for Microbiology, Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Australian Society for Medical Research.

Career outcomes

The Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences prepares graduates for a career in medical research, public and private sector research and development laboratories, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies. Graduates may also enroll in post-graduate programs in allied health fields such as podiatry, audiology and optometry. This degree also provides the skills and knowledge to prepare for the Graduate Medical Schools Admissions Test (GAMSAT) or for further study in research higher degrees such as PhD and Masters Programs.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed Senior High School Certificate with 70% or equivalent. Applications are based on comparisons with Australian Year 12 level examinations. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English: First (FCE)/ B2 First with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
