Broaden your knowledge in surveying

USQ’s Master of Spatial Science Technology (Surveying) is ideal if you have a three or four-year bachelor degree in a field other than engineering and you want to extend your knowledge in surveying.

Through this flexible 16 unit master’s degree you have the option to select surveying courses, including surveying computations, geodetic surveying and photogrammetry, as well as courses from related disciplines such as sustainable development, information systems and technology management.

You will also develop research methodology skills to complete a research project. The research project and dissertation is a stepping stone to further research degrees such as a PhD.

Graduate sooner

You may be able to graduate sooner with a Graduate Diploma of Spatial Science Technology after completing 8 units or a Graduate Certificate of Spatial Science Technology after completing 4 units.

Professional accreditation

The Master of Spatial Science Technology is not accredited by any professional bodies other than the University of Southern Queensland.

Career outcomes

As a surveying graduate, you could work in property surveying, land development, land information, mapping, engineering, and mining. Your experience could see you working on unique solutions to problems – solutions that are both socially and environmentally responsible.

English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) score of 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/ C1 Advanced or Proficiency (CPE)/C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
