COVID新冠病毒已经影响到了所有国家，让全世界人们的生活变得更为复杂。对于上海枫叶国际学校的学生，疫情阻断了整个学校第二学期的顺利开放，学生们不得不进行线上学习，而学生返校后，许多深受学生喜爱的老师没能顺利回到中国，导致师生只能进行线上学习。同时疫情也阻断了许多学生的夏季游学，及其他的学习计划的展开。可是挑战亦是机遇，在上海枫叶，这段注定不平凡的时间被用来帮助学生培养技能，让学生为即将到来的世界变革做好准备。

The COVID virus situation has impacted all countries and has made life complicated the world around. For Shanghai Maple Leaf students, the virus disrupted their second semester as students worked online and once they returned to school, were without many of their beloved teachers in person and could only work with them online. It also has disrupted summer travel and learning plans for many students. At Shanghai Maple Leaf, this complex time in world history has been used to help students develop skills to prepare for this new world they will be heading into.

The Real World challenge是一项由OWN Academy的香港公司赞助的国际在线竞赛，这项竞赛旨在从学生那里收集创新的项目创意，让参赛者体验一个新颖、富有成效，有意义的夏天。而对于今年刚从枫叶初中跳级到高一年级1010班的新生们，为了给他们提供额外的挑战，提高他们的英语水平，我校向学生们提供了这次参赛机会。

The Real World challenge was an international online competition sponsored by a Hong Kong company called OWN Academy who created this online competition to gather innovative project ideas from students for students and to experience an alternative, productive and meaningful summer. Students in our newly-created Homeroom 1010 entered the BC graduation program at the beginning of the second semester and to provide additional challenge and improve their English were presented with this students were presented with this opportunity.

让我们欣喜的是来自1010班的学生，Jessica邢佳颖因为她的项目“点击&聊天”获得了该赛事的5项最高奖项，因为病毒的影响，很多老人和家人隔离，而Jessica的“点击&聊天”是一款帮助老年人与朋友，家人保持的应用程序，点击here可以观看相关视频。作为获奖奖品，Jessica被提供了香港公司实习的机会，这家公司将会帮助她把自己的想法变成现实。

We are very excited that one of our students from Homeroom 1010, Jessica Xing Jiaying received a top 5 prize award for her project called “Click & Chat” which is an APP to help the elderly keep in touch with friends and family as they were isolated due to the effects of the virus. Click here to see video that was recognized as a top award winner along with students from other locations such as India, the Philippines and from Hong Kong. For her prize Jessica has been offered an internship with a Hong Kong based company who will help her make her idea into a reality.

Jessica说，她是从“自己的日常生活”中得到这个想法的，平日她很多时间是和自己的祖父母在一起的，同时在其他地方也接触过很多老年人。问及她参加比赛的原因，她回答因为她热爱比赛，也希望能改变周围的世界。她期待有机会与一家媒体开发公司合作，使她的想法成为现实!

衷心的恭喜Jessica参加本次国际比赛取得佳绩，更重要的是她在申请本次比赛中表现出的主动性，以及对一个创新想法的创造性思考值得所有人学习!

Jessica said that she got the idea for this from her “own daily life” as she has spent a lot of time with her own grandparents as well as seen elderly people in many other places. She entered the competition because she loves competitions and also wants to make a difference in the world around her. She is looking forward to the opportunity to work with a media development company to make her idea become a reality!

Congrats to Jessica for her participation in this international competition and the initiative she has shown in applying for this competition and for the creative thinking of an innovative idea!
