The information and communications sector has been identified as having a significant shortage of trained professionals, with the expectation that this shortfall will continue into the future. Now is the time to take that first step into a career that will be dynamic, global and in demand.

Why Networking and Security?

The Networking and Security major will equip you with state-of-the-art skills in network design, management, security and systems development and administration. You will become familiar with problem solving in computer networks, VoIP, video conferencing, network services administration, and gain the professional skills to apply them in the communication sector, healthcare, government institutions, and IT firms. After completing the major courses, you will gain the knowledge and skills required for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) industry certification.

Professional accreditation

Our Bachelor of Information Technology program is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society and, through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries.

Career outcomes

Depending on your area of interest, you can start your career in various sectors of the IT industry such as: technology service, content and design, business information systems and IT engineering and architecture. With your knowledge and skills in Networking and Security, you will have the opportunity to begin your career as a system administrator, systems analyst, web administrator network analyst, designer or administrator, computer programmer, database administrator or database designer.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed Senior High School Certificate with 70% or equivalent. Applications are based on comparisons with Australian Year 12 level examinations. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English: First (FCE)/ B2 First with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
