Expand your visual vocabulary by studying photography

The Professional Photography major within the Bachelor of Communication and Media is designed for students who wish to learn how to produce quality photographic work for the communications and media industries.

Learn skills for a career in photography and develop your knowledge of action and events coverage; sports photography; fashion and street photography; scientific and forensic photography; aerial and drone photography; landscape and nature; time lapse photography; portraiture; and fine art photography.

Internships in third-year courses provide opportunities for professional practice in industry. You will develop a professional portfolio of images to showcase your skills to future employers.

Career outcomes

The Professional Photography major will enable graduates to become photographic practitioners across a range of communications and media sectors. Take your photographic skillset to a professional career in journalism, advertising, public relations, or marketing.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed Senior High School Certificate with 70% or equivalent. Applications are based on comparisons with Australian Year 12 level examinations. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English: First (FCE)/ B2 First with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
