美国梦沃学校(上海)MVA SH学术主任Chris的一封信

Dear parents, students and friends of Montverde Academy, Shanghai:

上海梦沃的各位家长，各位同学，各位朋友，你们好，

I’m very excited for the new year to begin. We’re stronger and more optimistic than ever, with many new talented community members, from students to faculty to partners and supporters around the world.

新的学年就要开始了，我已按耐不住内心的激动。从学生到教职团队到合作伙伴再到世界各地的支持者，方方面面我们都有优异的新鲜血液注入，我们比以前更加强大，对未来更加自信乐观!

This will be a year of expanded collaboration, in every sense of the word.这个学年的关键词是扩展合作，体现在各个方面。

First, with our expanded faculty, we’re able to introduce a number of team-teaching programs, and will expand cross-disciplinary learning. The model of one teacher, one subject, one classroom is far from optimal. All of the best educational experiences I’ve had, from St. Paul’s School to Princeton, have involved groups of faculty working closely together to create the best possible experience for students. As teachers, we can’t learn and grow and improve without feedback and teamwork. Working closely together, in the same room, we can learn what works, what we should keep—and we can try new things. We can best help every student to succeed.

首先，教职队伍的壮大使我们能够引入一些团队教学项目并扩展跨学科教学。一名教师，一门课，一间教室的传统教学模式并不理想。从美国圣保罗到普林斯顿大学，我比较好的学习体验就是教师团队教学，密切合作，为学生带来的课堂盛宴。如果教师间不进行团队合作，得不到教学反馈，那么很难学习成长，提升教学技能。紧密合作，教授同一堂课会让教师很快学习到哪些方法可行，需要保持，哪些方法需要另辟蹊径，不断创新。如此以来，才可以较大程度地帮助每位同学获得成功。

Second, collaboration amongst faculty offers a model for our students. Team-work, leadership, and project-based learning are exactly the things students need to gain the skills and advantages required for a bright future. They’ll be more successful here at MVA Shanghai, they’ll do better in the college application process, and, eventually, they’ll be the kind of young employees that the best companies want to hire. We’ll be expanding and enhancing our commitment to this model of education across the entire curriculum.

其次，教职员间的合作可以为同学们树立良好的榜样。团队合作，领导力以及基于项目的学习能力都是同学们需要掌握的技能，可以帮助他们赢得更好的未来。在这种氛围和榜样的影响下，同学们在学校会更加成功，申请大学时会更加顺利，最终会成为世界**企业最想吸纳的年轻才俊。我们将会在整个课程体系中努力践行并扩展并这一教学模式。

Third, we must collaborate far beyond the walls of our campus. As I write, leaders from around the world are coming together just an hour south of Shanghai to discuss how we can better thrive as an interconnected community of nations, striving for peace, stability and prosperity around the globe. However wise and powerful our leaders are, we must ensure that there is a generation of future leaders who are able to follow in their footsteps.

再次，我们必须与外界合作。在我写这封信的时候，世界各国领导人正汇聚在杭州(距上海仅 1 小时车程)，商讨作为互联互通的共同体，国与国之间应如何合作以实现更好的发展，实现全球的和平，稳定和繁荣。 无论这些带头人如何睿智和强大，我们都必须确保培养出能追随他们脚步的新一代领导人。

I’m thrilled that this fall, eleven students and I, along with Larry Allen and Effy Huang Jun, will be traveling to Mumbai and Chinchoti, India. This isn’t simply a trip for us to take, however; it is the beginning of a connection that our school, and this community, can nurture over many years. All faculty and students will be learning more about India and this program as we raise awareness and funds to help with the development project in which we’ll engage. Indeed, as China’s neighbor and the second most populous country in the world, India makes for an ideal location to establish our first social leadership partnership.

Further, World Leadership School, who will help facilitate this connection, is a most distinguished organization in the US and works with communities around the world, and counts as its partners a number of the very best secondary schools in America. I’m excited for even more opportunities along these lines as our school continues to grow.

世界领导力学院会帮助我们与当地社区建立。它是美国非常卓著的组织，与世界各地的社区都有合作，且与美国几个比较好的中学是合作伙伴。我十分期待随着我们学校的发展，我们能与世界领导力学院有更多的类似合作机会。

Finally, I spent a good part of this summer traveling. While I enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones,and exploring places both familiar and foreign, I was also able to begin developing relationships with a number of potential partners—from a leadership program connected to Harvard and MIT, to an environmental tour agency in New Zealand. I can only hope that all of our students will be able to enjoy the amazing perspectives and opportunities that come from travel—through time and in books, in laboratories and equations—and, as importantly, around the world. Ours is an international school, and this, guided by a spirit of collaboration, will bring us all a bright and rewarding future.

最后，这个暑假我大部分时间都在旅行。在会会老朋友，交交新朋友，逛逛老地方，探探新天地的时候，我也与一些潜在的合作伙伴建立了些，*括与哈佛大学和麻省理工大学有的领导力项目，新西兰环保旅行社等等。我希望我们梦沃所有学生都能享受旅行带来的不同视野和机遇。当然，这里说的旅行既*括在书本，实验室和方程式中的旅行，也*括行万里路，到世界各处看看，因为两者都很重要。上海梦沃是一所践行合作精神的国际学校，这将使我们所有人受益匪浅，前途光明。
