《我这一辈子》是北京作家老舍先生写于1937年的一篇中篇小说，讲述了旧时代一位底层巡警充满悲剧色彩的一生。老舍用嘲讽而节制的笔法，表现出个体在大时代面前的某种局限和无力感。以下是美国梦沃学校(上海)九年级丁悦扬对这篇小说的一些认识，他善于思考，发掘文本的深层含义，比如，谈到个体与时代的关系时，说“大环境限制了我们的行为, 但是无论如何, 大环境并没有捆死我们的手脚”。

The Life of Mine was a novella written by famous Beijing writer Lao She in 1937, which tells the tragic life of a patrolman at the bottom of the society in the old days. In this novella, Lao She presented in an ironic yet restraining style an individual's limitation and powerlessness in the powerful current of the old times. Here is 9th grader Danny Ding's understanding of the novella. He is good at thinking and getting the deeper meaning behind the words. For example, when talking about the relationship between an individual and the general situation of the times, he said " It is true that the overall social environment limits our actions, yet it doesn't really tie up our hands and feet firmly so that we can do nothing at all."

合上老舍的这本小说，脑海中萦绕着的，仍然是主人公无比坎坷、不顺遂的一生。从少年时期受尽欺凌的学徒，到裱糊匠这个日暮西山的行当;当了巡警之后，在动荡的社会中穷困潦倒地混日子;到了老年，却因为稍有不慎得罪了人，于是卷了铺盖回家。家里儿子还死了,生活跌落谷底。这样悲惨的日子，真是不忍想象。

于是很能理解，在文章结尾的时候，主人公怀揣着一辈子的感慨，极为无奈和自嘲地笑了两件事：一件是他自己的"聪明本事"，另一件是这世界的"出奇不公"。他认为自己还是很聪明的，所以在如此巨大的现实反差之下，一切自然是显得相当地不公平。

对于小说中的主人公，我首先是相当同情。 的确，看看他所遭遇的变故，似乎也都是这个社会的"大环境"所造成的。

然而，就这样接受宿命了吗?不禁让人深思!

诚然，"大环境"不是我们可以去改变的。"大环境"限制了我们的行为，但是无论如何，"大环境"并没有捆死我们的手脚，我们仍然可以在一定程度上把握住自己命运的缰绳。怨天尤人并不能解决问题, 只有承认现实、面对现实、不懈努力，才能在"大环境"下撑起属于自己的"小天地"。

如果他能在裱糊匠衰败后，适应行业变迁，寻觅新的机会，并为此努力，如果他能在改朝换代之时，**与时俱进，"我这一辈子", 或许同样不会特别出彩，但是必定会有另一番的景致吧。

虽然在“梦沃”才生活了一个学期, 但是和“梦沃”结识, 已经一年了。从市北理科班走来, 我的脑海里并没有被曾经刷过的无数道奥数题占满, 我将其中很大一块, 留给了我的梦想和期待。在梦沃, 自由自主的学习氛围, 文理兼并的选修课程, 让我的梦想放飞。

I have only studied at MVA SH for one semester, but I have known it for a year now. Although I came from a science class in Shanghai Shibei High School, my brain is not completely filled with mathematics— a big portion of it is taken up by my dreams and ambitions. At Montverde, in the atmosphere of free study and choice, the liberal arts electives let my dreams fly.

我渴望了解最深邃的自然, 并充满了无尽的好奇, 平时去书店, 最爱逛的就是自然科学的角落, 不管懂与不懂, 但是只要翻开那些书, 就觉得很是兴奋, 像是一个冒险家, 我会涉足各种未知的领域。

I hope to understand the deepest secrets and wonders of nature and to fulfill my endless curiosity. I often go to bookstores, and my favorite place in a bookstore is the natural sciences corner. It doesn’t even matter if I understand it or not: even just opening the books, I begin to get excited. I feel like an explorer entering into various unknown territories.

我喜欢和来自各地的同学们相处, 深厚的友谊是宝贵的财富。每个假期, 我和以前小学甚至幼儿园的同学都会一起聚会, 我希望我的每个同学, 都可以生活得很快乐。

I like to hang out with classmates from all over the country, and think that genuine friendship is a precious gift. During each vacation I reunite with friends from my old schools, classmates from primary school all the way back to kindergarten. I hope that all these classmates are also very happy!

我喜欢骑自行车, 喜欢旅行, 喜欢外面自由呼吸的空气。找个机会, 我们一起结伴去旅行吧。
