美国梦沃学校(上海)国际高中的英语课，要求学生手工制作 “小说中的场景与人物”，这堂课由“梦沃”明星教师 Mr. Allen指导。English Class，Students' Handmade Novel Dioramas，Under the Instruction of MVA's Star Teacher Mr. Allen。以下是本次课程的具体介绍：

课程介绍 Introduction of the Course

In Mr. Allen’s English I class, students from grades 9-11 had a range of creative projects to choose from as their final assignment for The Great Gatsby. Students could write about fashion brands and the characters from the novel, create a gossip magazine, or put together a soundtrack for a new film adaptation of the story. A majority of the class chose to create a diorama, which is like a little scene inside of a shoebox. Students chose a specific moment from The Great Gatsby, purchased the necessary materials on sites like Taobao and created intricate displays.

Mr. Allen的英语Ⅰ课堂上有来自9-11年级的学生。 对于小说《了不起的盖茨比》的最后一次作业，孩子们可以自由选择一种形式进行创作，可以写文章，分析小说中的时尚品牌或人物，创作八卦杂志，或者为新改编的电影制作影视原声。大部分同学选择为小说中的某一个场景制作一个鞋盒般大小的立体模型。他们在淘宝等网站上买来所需材料，精心制作，用立体模型再现了小说中的场景。

Shujie “Grace” Ye 叶淑洁

Shujie “Grace” Ye, Grade 9: The scene I made is at the very end of chapter 1. I wanted to make this scene because of the green light. It is one of the most important symbols in the book. It shows us that Gatsby loves Daisy very much and shows the untouchable dream of Gatsby. This scene is about Gatsby looking at the green light across the bay and trembling， but I couldn't put Gatsby’s hand up because the male model's hand was stuck to his body. Nick’s house is beside Gatsby’s and he is looking at Gatsby.

来自9年级的叶淑洁：我制作的场景出现在**章的结尾处。小说中的绿光有重要的象征意义，向我们展现了盖茨比对黛西深沉的爱以及他那无法触及的梦想，因此我想制作这个场景。在这个场景中，盖茨比伸着胳膊望着海湾对岸的绿光颤抖，但是制作的时候我没能把他的胳膊抬起来，因为这个人偶的胳膊是黏在身体上的。尼克的房子就在盖茨比家旁边，当盖茨比在颤抖时，尼克远远地望着他。

Fangming “Freda” Liu 刘芳铭

Fangming “Freda” Liu, Grade 10: Before Gatsby’s funeral, all his acquaintances and friends disappeared. He took the responsibility for the car accident to protect Daisy, but Daisy was enjoying a happy holiday without any guilty conscience at the time of Getsby's funeral. The diorama shows that Daisy was enjoying the sunbath beside the sun umbrella with Tom and their daughter on the grass, and they were having a blast with bikini. Her family and her life could still move on. To Daisy, Gatsby was just an extra alternative. She did not care about other people or whether she destroyed them.

来自10年级的刘芳铭：盖茨比所有的熟人和朋友都没有来参加他的葬礼，他们就像从来都不认识盖茨比一样。为了保护黛西，盖茨比将车祸的责任揽到自己身上。然而在盖茨比的葬礼上，黛西并没有出现，而是开心地度假去了，一点负罪感都没有。我制作的立体模型展现了黛西一家的比基尼狂欢，黛西正在阳伞旁享受日光浴，她的丈夫汤姆和女儿在草坪上玩乐。黛西的家庭依然完整，她逍遥的生活还可以继续。对黛西而言，盖茨比只是一条可有可无的备选项，她从不关心他人，也不在意自己是否毁了他们。

Zekai “Kevin” Gong 龚泽楷

Zekai “Kevin” Gong, Grade 11: There is a billboard on one side of the box. That is the eyes in the Valley of Ashes， which represents that God can see anything. And I spent some time to make all the people in the diorama turn their faces to the billboard. That means that God could see the accident. According to the book, Gatsby explained that the true driver who caused the accident was Daisy. So I chose a female model sitting in the driver seat and a male-model next to her representing Gatsby. Because of the limited space of the car model, it looks a little bit weird, but I think the position can show how shocked they were and how fast their car was going when the accident happened.

来自11年级的龚泽楷：盒子旁边有一个广告板，它代表着灰烬谷的眼睛，也代表上帝能看到一切。我颇费了些时间才使模型中的所有人物都面朝广告板。这一细节也说明上帝知道车祸的真相。小说中盖茨比解释说真正造成车祸的司机是黛西，所以我选了一个女性人偶放在驾驶位上，并在旁边放了一个男性人偶代表盖茨比。由于汽车模型的空间有限，整体看起来有一点儿怪怪的，但是我想这个立体模型中人和物的摆位可以说明车祸发生时他们是多么惊恐，当时车速是多么快!
