我来美国佛罗里达“梦沃”上学已经有三个月了。这三个月来，我渐渐适应了这里紧凑的学习生活，并且非常期待将来。有一个诗人到学校来参观，夸过“梦沃”像一个小型的大学。这里紧张的学习氛围和优美的学校环境都深深地吸引着我。

I have studied in Montverde Academy (MVA) Florida for three months. In these three months, I am getting used to the intense study life here and looking foward to the future very much. Once, a poet visited our campus. He compared our academy to a university and spoke highly of it. I am deeply attracted by the hardworking atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings here.

学校的社团种类非常多，比如说年鉴社，模拟联合国社，中国社，回收社等等。每个学生参加的社团活动没有限制，只要你喜欢这个社团，你都可以参加。让我印象最深的是中国学生在这里办的中国社，下半学期刚好赶上春节，于是中国社就办了一场小型的春晚，为海外留学生庆祝春节。当时在播放视频的时候，有些学生说自己好几年都没有回国过春节，我们都忍不住流了眼泪。中国的春节象征着家人团团圆圆在一起。现在离乡学习，不能和家人在一起，但我发现和同学朋友在一起过春节也有种别样的感觉。之后我参加了模联和环境回收社，这两个社团都是由老师开办的，每个人的任务分工明确，也有很多的课外的机会，体现出社团的质量。

There are lots of clubs in MVA Florida, such as Yearbook Club, Model United Nations Club, Chinese club and so on and so forth. Students can join as many clubs as they want. Chinese Club established by Chinese students impressed me the most. The beginning of the second semester of this school year saw the Chinese Spring Festival, so the Chinese Club held a small Spring Festival gala for the Chinese students to celebrate. While watching a video made by its club members, lots of students said that they hadn't celebrated the Spring Festival in America for years and many of us were moved to tears. The Spring Festival is a traditional Chinese festival, during which family members get together and watch the gala. Yet during this Spring Festival, I was in America and couldn't get together with my family.

I missed my hometown and my family a lot at that moment. However, celebrating the Spring Festival with friends in America gave me a different experience. Finally, I chose Model United Club and Recycling Club among all the clubs. These two clubs were both established by teachers. Therefore there are many off-campus activities that we can join in.

关于生活，能在短短半个学期被分到住在MCC简直是一种幸福。MCC的宿管Mrs. Cathy真的让我感受到了寝室就是家的感觉。大约50多岁的Mrs. Cathy尽心尽力地照顾着我们十几个女生。每周放学楼道里都会有惊喜，刚从烤箱里拿出来热乎乎的巧克力饼干，新鲜切好的橙子，各种坚果零食。Mrs. Cathy还会精心为我们庆祝生日，在你生日前一周会问你在生日派对上想点什么吃的，有什么特殊的想法等等。在国外**次过生日并没有什么失望，和同学们一起过并且有Mrs. Cathy准备的美食，简直一点遗憾都没有留下。在公共房间还有宿管为我们准备的热巧克力，茶*等等各种饮料。**次见到Mrs. Cathy她就一直对我们的家长说，希望住在这里的女生都能感觉到家的温暖，离家那么远学习不免会想家，但是宿管让我感受到了暖暖的家的感觉。

My dorm life is the most enjoyable experience here. Mrs. Cathy is our dorm parent. She makes me feel like I’m home. She takes care of us and always gives us surprises. Every week we can enjoy chocolate cookies, fresh oranges and many snacks that Mrs. Cathy prepares for us. She celebrates our birthday with us and asks what we want to eat at the birthday party a week ahead. I felt very happy about celebrating my first birthday abroad. Mrs. Cathy prepared everything for my birthday. Every time when I finish school and go back to my dorm, Mrs. Cathy is waiting for us and asks how we are doing. She treats me as the way my parents treat me at home and I do not miss home at all now. Mrs. Cathy is the best dorm parent I have ever met.

学校为住宿生提供了丰富的周末生活，每周周六日我们住宿生都可以报出外出的活动，比如说有City walk, Disney spring, theater, target等等不同的活动。平常学校还有各种活动比如说M.A.I.T篮球比赛，spelling bee等等丰富学校生活的活动。

The school provides lots of weekend trips for boarding students, such as City walk, Disney spring, theater and other various activities.Every Saturday and Sunday we can go out of campus and hang out with friends. School has lots of basketball competitions and drama spelling bees that students perform for us.

半个学期下来，最难忘的课就是实打实的美国历史。除了非常喜欢Mr. Burke，更令人难以忘记的是我**次测试53分、大考69分，那一整天我在极其复杂的心情中度过，茶饭不思。

The most impressive class was definitely U.S. History. I was impressed by my teacher Mr. Burke, but more impressed by getting 53 in the first quiz and 69 in the first test, because that week I got all the jokes but none of the notes, and I literally wrote everything down but not really learned anything. After seeing my score I didn't go to lunch, instead, I locked myself in the restroom and panicked for 45 minutes.

历史课**章就这么不明不白地过去了，之后分析一下自己上课情况，发现自己只是写下一切，却没有真正地学进去。想起Mr. Burke说学历史的关键就是多背多读书，于是我给自己定个小目标，先读它个4本书，想罢便去图书馆精挑了资料书，课上到哪我看到哪。每次考前老师会给我们准备抢答测试。**章的抢答测试我什么都没准备，整节课懵逼;第二章下狠心做全了准备，然而非常心痛，发现了一个残酷的现实：即使全都懂但在阅读速度上输给外国人，总被别人抢先几秒给出答案;他们太快了，在基本都会的情况下，我只答到2题。那时深刻地意识到自己与native speaker的差距，并且觉得自己做到真正在课堂如鱼得水还有很长的路要走。

The first chapter was not easy. For me there was a lot going on. During chapter 2 I borrowed 4 additional Civil War books from the library. Everything made a lot more sense then. I remembered the review day before the second test, in which Mr. Burke gave us a flip quiz. That's when I was fully prepared but found my reading speed far behind the native speakers; I think to be able to engage well, there's still a long way I need to go.

之后的9周，随着各科阅读量的增加，阅读速度真的提升了不少，抢答和考试也轻松了许多，最终我拿到了90以上的历史总成绩。

说到自己语言能力与本土的客观差距，我想起另一件事。观察发现有些对中国人不友善的所谓的“种族歧视者”，其实并非对亚洲种族有偏见或带有自己种族的优越感，只是在次次尝试下都觉得中国人很难交流：有些总是待在自己的中国小圈子里刻意避免与其他人交谈，在不得不交流的环境，比如课堂讨论，很多人因英语不好，或害羞也很少说话，也很少眼神交流。

As the increasing reading and writing took place in all courses during the first 9 weeks, my reading speed really increased a lot. And during these 9 weeks' study, I eventually made a 90 overall grade on history.

Speaking of reading and writing, I realize there is a real gap in speaking skills between native speakers and me. Seeing so many Chinese here at MVA, I found that some so-called "racists" who barely talk to Chinese are not really against Chinese ethnicity, but just feel that Chinese are difficult to communicate with, either because of their weak oral English or simply shyness to speak, plus many Chinese avoid eye contact all the time. Although it's just shyness but seems like an unfriendly signal to them.

交换生选拔条例

每学期梦沃国际学校(上海)会选拔一到两名优秀学生到弗罗里达总校交换学习一个学期。本着公平公正的原则，交换生选拔应遵循以下规定：

Every semester MVA Shanghai will choose one or two of its top students to study in MVA Florida for one semester. In line with the principle of fairness and equality, the following selection rules shall be observed:

1. 交换生在美国夢沃学校(上海)需就读一年或以上;

The student shall have studied in our school for at least a year;

2. 该生GPA和行为规范综合评价在全体学生中名列前茅;

The student shall be at the top of our school in terms of both

academic and non-academic performance.

3. 该生或该生家长为学校荣誉做出了巨大努力;

The student or his/her parent has contributed a lot to this school.

4. 该生赴美交换一学期后必须同意回到美国夢沃学校(上海)完成学业，该生家长需和学校签订相关法律文件，以**此条例的执行;

After one semester in Florida, the student shall come back to MVA Shanghai to continue his/her study. His/her parents shall sign some legal documents with MVA Shanghai to ensure the execution of this rule.

5. 该生须**在美国夢沃学校就读期间，遵守总校的各项规章制度，并继续为美国夢沃学校(上海)荣誉而战。

This student shall obey the rules of MVA Florida and continue fighting for the honor of MVAShanghai!
