美国梦沃学校(上海)2017春季学期通知五：EAMaster升学管理系统

各位家长： Dear parents,

一、 喜报分享

热烈祝贺我校张苑和张天羽同学在主题为“创新 体验 成长”的第32届上海市青少年科技创新大赛上获得青少年科技创新成果一等奖。此次大赛共有486所学校的参赛选手提交了5753份申报材料。经过层层选拔，张天羽同学“留守儿童教育难题”(所属学科：行为和社会科学)和张苑同学“用于高氨氮废水处理的异向传至菌藻生物膜反应器构建及应用”(所属学科：环境科学与工程)从4438项青少年科技创新成果中脱颖而出。我校*揽了青浦区所有一等奖。

Warm congratulation to MVA students Amy Zhang and Isabella Zhang for winning the first prize in the 32nd Shanghai Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest themed “Innovation Experience Growth”. A total of 5753 projects were submitted by participants from 486 schools. Through layers of screening and examination, Isabella Zhang’s “On Education Problem of the Left-behind Children” (Subject: Behavioral and Social Science) and Amy Zhang’s “The Construction and Application of the Biofilm Reactor to Treat High Ammonia and High Sulfide Wastewater” (Subject: Environmental Science and Engineering) stood out from 4438 scientific and technological innovations. Our school won all the first prizes in Qingpu District.

二、 本周P&B 介绍 P&B theme-based sharing

本周P&B主题与上周四的视频有关，是印象，偏见，态度方面的内容。

The P&B theme of this week is relevant to the video last Thursday, which is about first impression, bias and attitude.

三、 周一CAS活动

周一CAS时间，所有新生参加了才艺秀表演。经过精心准备，积极参与，场面生动活波，掌声笑声欢呼声此起彼伏。有钢琴表演、歌唱表演、相声表演等等，每张新面庞都张显着阳光，自信，快乐。

During the CAS time on Monday, all the new students gave wonderful performances-- singing, piano solo, cross-talk and so on in the welcome party. Due to their conscientious effort and active participation, the auditorium was filled with vitality, applaud and laugher. Happiness and confidence could be seen from each of the new faces.

四、关于EAmaster升学管理系统 About EAmaster College Application Management System

为了在学校层面加强课外活动和升学指导，我们准备引进EAmaster升学管理系统。这个管理系统是国内以提升学生综合素养为目的，满足国际学校升学**需要的综合管理系统。 系统汇集了超过1500个优质课外活动资源和大量真实升学案例，提供了从升学规划到执行的系统化管理工具。它能够更有效提高学校升学指导**的效率，为丰富学生的课外生活提供更多的建议和渠道，从而更有效地实现学生的个性化发展。学校从九年级开始试点。

In order to enhance the college application process in the whole school, our school is going to introduce EAmaster college application management system. This management system is the first application nationwide to elevate student’s comprehensive ability and a great tool for international school to manage students’ college application process. This system converges 1500 quality extra-curriculum activities and abundant cases of college applications. The systematic management tool not only provides the plan for college application but also the action on how to obtain the goal to get into students’ dream schools. It enables the counselors to enhance the efficiency and provides students more choices and suggestions on extra-curriculum activities, which can efficiently achieve the goal to help students to develop their individual characters. The school decides to conduct a pilot project on the ninth grade.

五、 关于上海夏校 About Summer School in MVA Shanghai

提供ESL英语第二外语课程，这将使得学生的英语能力有质的飞越。同时，还为英语已经有相当基础的同学带来其他美国高中的学科课程供选择，进一步提升语言和学科能力。

ESL courses will be provided to improve the students’ basic English skills. At the same time other American high school courses other than ESL will also be offered to students who has already mastered the basic English skills.

学生在本次夏令营修习的课程在考核合格后，都将获得由美国夢沃学校签发的学分。学生未来如果进入美国夢沃学校，美国夢沃学校(上海)或其他美国的中学进行学习，则这些学分都会获得认可并免修同样的课程。

Students will get the corresponding credits of the course he/she finish from Montverde Academy after passing the academic evaluation. If the students intend to study in Montverde Academy Florida, Montverde Academy Shanghai or other American schools later, the credits will be recognized, which means students do not have to learn the same courses again.

3、教师：Teachers

· Ian Smith：美国夢沃学校“渐进英语”课程主任。在非母语英语教学有着极为丰富的经验。他的大学学习*含了中文和中国文化，并在中国有10年的经历，因此非常了解中国学生在英语学习上的特点并已经总结出了针对性的教育教学方式。

Ian Smith: Director of ESL courses in Montverde Academy Florida, having rich experience on second-language teaching. He learned Chinese and Chinese culture in college. The 10-year experience in China makes him know Chinese students’ traits and sum up specific teaching skills.

· George Morris：14年英语教育教学经验。其中9年的经验是在中国。他在大学完成了英语教学专业，目前在美国夢沃学校执教针对英语非母语学生的英语课程。

George Morris: He has 14 years of English teaching experience, with 9-year teaching in China. He completed English teaching major in University and currently teaches non-native speakers English in MVA Florida.

· Larry Allen：已有6年执教经验，其中3年在美国夢沃学校(上海)。他执教范围*括针对英语非母语学生的英语课以及历史、地理等人文类学科。

Larry Allen: He has 6 years of teaching experience, with 3 years in MVA Shanghai. He teaches English and human geography at MVA SH.

· Robert Burke： 已有8年美国历史执教经验。他在历史教学方面有着非常独到的见解和方式。他曾带领学生到纽约、波士顿、费城以及一些美国内战遗址进行历史教学。他相信历史的学习，比较好的方式就是去了解图像、真实的历史文档，亲历历史的人留下的话语，以及历史中的人们的所作所为是怎样造就了今天的世界。

Robert Burke： He has eight-year experience in teaching American history, with unique insights and methods in history teaching. He has led students to American War ruins to teach them history. Also, he believes that the best way to learn history is through the images and documents, to know the words of predecessors and how history was created and changed the modern life.

4、开设课程： “渐进英语”各个等级、“创意写作”、“美国历史”等。

Courses provided: All levels of ESL courses, "creative writing", and "American history" and so on.

5、课程选择 Course selection

①只能学习以上所列的一门课。不能同时学两门。

One can only choose one course listed above. Students are not allowed to learn two courses at the same time.

②须进行测试，当英语能力达到一定程度之上，方可选择学习“创意写作”或“美国历史”。否则只能去和自己英语水平相符的“渐进英语”某个等级进行学习。

Students can learn "creative writing" or "American history" after passing the English evaluation test, or they can only take the ESL course that is suitable to his/her level.

Parents, please be clear that any student without previous authorization to stay over the weekend cannot stay at the school under any circumstances. Make sure you make proper arrangements for your child to return home. The school is not responsible for any incident that might happen to your son/daughter. Thank you for your understanding.

七、警告Warning

XX同学：

鉴于你不止一次因留宿而违反学生手册相关规定，而且在予以口头警告之后仍然没有重视自己在周末留宿相关规定上的行为。**次是周末留宿期间不按时返校。第二次是未经申请私自留宿。现依照学生手册不得不处于你禁止周末留宿一个月，于本周开始执行。

As of today, you have violated certain rules in the Student Handbook, even though we have already given you a warning. The first time, you failed to return to the dorm on time while you were staying on the weekend. This time, you stayed through the weekend without permission. We are obliged to inform you that you cannot stay on weekends for four weeks, beginning this weekend.

八、清明节休息时间 Tomb-sweeping Day Break

下周五3.31日上周三的课，4.1日上周五的课，校车在4.1日下午14:30发车;4.4日晚20:20开始接学生返回学校。2、3、4日休息。

Mar.31st (next Friday) will follow the timetable of Wednesday; April 1st the timetable of Friday. The school bus leaves at 14:30 on April 1st and picks up the students back to school at 20:20 April 4th. Tomb-sweeping Day break: April 2nd, 3rd & 4th .
