我是美国梦沃学校(上海)学生鲁晓晗，今天我的演讲内容是：“厚脸皮”也是重要技能Speech|Lucy Lu: "Being Thick-skinned" helps

大科学家爱因斯坦说过:“人的差异在于业余时间。” 那些有成就有造化的人，无一不是充分利用了业余时间，追求进步，完善自我。

这个寒假，“梦沃”学子们追求自我的成长，以丰富多彩又充满挑战的方式，度过了一个充实的假期。开学典礼上，十年级的鲁晓晗同学作为此次参加国际商业比赛的代表，谈了谈她的感受和收获。

Our great scientist Einstein once said:"Human's difference lies in the spare time." All men of achievements have made full use of their spare time to continously grow and better themselves. On the road of self-improvement, MVA students spent this winter vacation in a challenging, exciting, clolorful and fulfilling way. On the opening ceremony, Lucy, a 10th grader, shared with us her experience of partaking in the MicroBiz competition, on behalf of all the MVA students who were there.

2017年寒假里，我参加了由MicroBiz举办的国际商业比赛。在这次商赛期间，我认识了许多有趣的小伙伴，并大大地提升了自己对商业的认识和人际交往能力。借这个机会，我很想和大家分享一些自己的经历和体会。

During 2017 winter vacation, I took part in the MicroBiz business competition, through which I made lots of interesting friends, deepened my knowledge about business and improved my interpersonal communication skills. Here I would like to share with you what I have experienced and learned.

由于我是市场部的销售经理，在比赛过程中不免要在场内四处宣传和介绍自己的产品。可是大多数的人认为听别人的产品介绍就是一种浪费时间的行为，时常对我产生不耐烦的情绪。可是这就是我的职责啊，我的职责就是向别的公司推销自己的产品。所以我必须厚着脸皮，装作看不见他们的白眼，依旧声情并茂地介绍着。因为只有这样，我们才比别的公司有更大的机会被别人投资。实际上，在日常生活中，厚脸皮也是一个非常重要的技能。学校里，学生得厚着脸皮地请教老师不懂的问题。

As Sales Manager of the Marketing Department, I had to go around to introduce and publicize our products. Most participants thought that it was a waste of time to listen to someone's introducing his/her products, so they often showed no patience in hearing me out. Yet, it was my job to promote our company's products to other companies! Therefore, I had to be thick-skinned, ignoring their supercilious look and introducing our products vividly and persuasively, because only in this way could our company get more chance to be invested. Besides, in our daily life, being thick-skinned is also a very important ability. For example, in school, it is better to be thick-skinned so that you can have the courage to ask teachers to help you with some difficult academic questions.

学校里的外教Larry曾经开玩笑说过：“孩子们，去尝试一些新的东西吧。在尝试过后，你就会明白，永远不要尝试。”其实我并不同意这样的观点，正是因为不断的尝试、探索，我们的人生才更加精彩和美丽。如果像我之前那样，每逢假期就睡到日上三竿，这样的日子过得平淡如水，没有一丝波澜，又有什么意义呢?

Our foreign teacher Larry once joked:"Kids, go to try new things! After trying, you will know : NEVER TRY ! Actually I don't agree with such a point of view. I think it is just because of the continuous trying and exploring that our life can be more exciting and wonderful. If I had spent this winter vacation as before---sleep very late in the morning---, I wouldn't have learned so much and had so much fun. The days would be boring and make no difference to me.

诗人北岛曾经说过：“一个人的行走范围，就是他的世界。”我认为，这里的行走范围，并不仅仅是指你走过多少路，旅游过多少地方，它更深层次的意思是你经历过多少事情，你的阅历如何。所以，不要害怕失败,努力去尝试吧，活出属于你自己的，人生精彩的模样来!

Famous poet Bei Dao once said:" One's world expands as far as one goes." I think " as far as one goes" here doesn't only mean how many kilometers one covers or how many places one visits, but also means how many things one experiences. So, don't be afraid! Go to try new things! Create and live a wonderful and exciting life of your own!

我叫鲁晓晗，是上海美国梦沃学校十年级的一名学生。细数过往，我来到梦沃这个大家庭已经有整整一个学期了。

I am lucy, a 10th grader in MVA Shanghai. Looking back， I find I have been in this big family for a whole semester.

总觉得人生就像是一首自编自导的歌曲。谱曲的人可以选择一尘不变，只弹奏一个音符直到结尾;也可以选择尝试去弹奏高低起伏的奏鸣曲。我希望自己的人生有低谷也有高潮，过得充实而又多姿多彩。不要惧怕失败，因为那正是成功给你的机遇与挑战。

I always think that one' s life is like a song composed by oneself. You can compose your life song with just one note, with no change at all, or you can choose to compose a gripping and inviting sonata with various notes. I hope my life song is a sonata, fulfilling, exciting and colorful. Don't be afraid of failure, because it is the challenge and opportunity offered by success.
